Painted Screens

This painted screen commission came from The Southeast Community Development Corporation ( Southeast CDC) as part of a larger public art program to bring the tradition of Baltimore screen painting to more businesses, homes and community centers in Highlandtown. After meeting with the program director, we decided to focus on the famous Highlandtown Lantern Parade that takes place every Halloween right around the corner at Patterson Park. The most popular hand-made lanterns are featured like the swan and the owl. Learning how to take our skills and transfer them to a window screen was a fun challenge, and we couldn’t have done it without the support of The Painted Screen Society of Baltimore.
